Hi, I’m Lori — author, poet, story-collector, and lover of conversations that go deeper than small talk.

I write mystery novels set in the landscapes I grew up with: country roads, gum trees, the chill of New England mornings, and small towns where the truth whispers long before it shouts. I’m fascinated by what makes people tick — the things we hide, the things we long for, and the moments that change everything.

Before I became a full-time writer, I spent more than three decades working in management accounting across agriculture, newspapers, general practice, retail and local government. You’d be surprised how much those environments teach you about people — how they think, react, lead, and sometimes break. Those lessons became the heart of my non-fiction book, Head Over Heart: The Hidden Strength of Emotional Intelligence, and later, its Companion Workbook. They’ve also shaped the way I build characters: imperfect, relatable, complex, trying their best with what they know.

I’m also a poet — the kind who writes with a coffee beside her, late at night, when the world is quiet enough to hear feelings properly. My poetry books (Still I Bloom, My Brain Has Tabs Open, Whispers from the Kitchen, Whispers from the Edge) explore that winding path from overwhelm to understanding — the messy, beautiful growth we all go through.

And then there’s my softer side: I write children’s stories too, like Linda the Singing Calf and the Barnyard Gang. Because every child deserves stories filled with courage, kindness and joy — and maybe a little silliness.

When I’m not writing, you’ll likely find me walking through bushland with a notebook, reading in bed until midnight, or enjoying coffee with my husband Andrew, who cheers me on through every chapter — even the difficult ones.

Whether you’re here for mysteries, poetry, emotional intelligence, or all of it — welcome.
I’m glad our paths crossed.
